Acquisition of Specimens from a Private Herbarium

The process of enriching the Fungi Information System (SIF) continues with the acquisition of specimens from private herbaria, in order to ensure the preservation of mycological data and their availability to the scientific community.

Thanks to the generosity of a mycologist from the network, a series of specimens from his private herbarium has been acquired, catalogued, and included in the SIF. These specimens, accompanied by georeferenced data and detailed information, will enhance the available mycological documentation for conservation, monitoring, and research purposes.

This activity is part of the ongoing efforts of ISPRA and the Network for the Study of Mycological Diversity to ensure that valuable data collected in the field by enthusiasts and mycologists are not lost but instead become shared resources that support the protection of fungal biodiversity in Italy.

A heartfelt thank you to Claudio Orlandini for the generosity and dedication with which he contributed to this important enrichment of the SIF.
