JoNeF Report 2025 at the IMPEL General Assembly

On 17 June 2026, the JoNeF Report 2025, entitled Bridging the Gaps: Fungal Information Systems across Europe, will be presented at the IMPEL General Assembly.
The report presents the results of a European survey involving 35 institutions from 30 countries, providing an overview of how fungal data are collected, managed and used across Europe.
One of the report’s main findings is that a substantial amount of fungal data already exists within national institutions, databases and information systems. However, these data are often fragmented, poorly interoperable and not yet fully integrated into biodiversity monitoring and environmental decision-making processes.

To support the dissemination of the report’s findings, JoNeF produced two accompanying videos that will be presented during the General Assembly.
The first video summarises the main results of the JoNeF Report 2025, highlighting the current status of fungal information systems across Europe and the need for stronger coordination, interoperability and policy integration.
The second video, featuring Celeste Santos e Silva, reflects on the ecological importance of fungi and the need to make existing fungal knowledge more accessible and usable for society and decision-makers.
The report and the two videos share a common message: scientific knowledge on fungi already exists. The challenge is to recognise its value, connect existing information and make it fully available for biodiversity monitoring, conservation and environmental governance.
