ISPRA and CAI: CAI mycologists involved in data collection along the Sentiero Italia trail

As part of the collaboration agreement between ISPRA and CAI, a joint programme has been launched for the collection and sharing of environmental data along the Sentiero Italia CAI (SICAI), including fungal data.
Mycologists from CAI sections can integrate their hiking and scientific activities along the trail network with the collection of fungal data, thereby contributing to the national census of macrofungi.
The data collection follows the rules and standards set by the Network for the Study of Fungal Diversity, coordinated by ISPRA. The data will be:
-
- collected and verified by ISPRA;
- published in the CAI Trail Information System, georeferenced by trail segment;
- shared in the Fungal Information System (SIF), contributing to the national database on fungal biodiversity.
The activities involve field observations and sampling of macrofungi, with particular attention to rare, protected, or habitat-specific species.
Who can participate
Mycologists from CAI sections with experience in macrofungi identification, who are officially registered in the Network for the Study of Fungal Diversity.
How to participate
Data must be collected using the Network app and submitted to the SIF database, including a note referencing the ISPRA–CAI agreement.
