ISPRA – Nebrodi Park Agreement for monitoring mycological biodiversity

ISPRA and the Nebrodi Regional Park Authority have signed a three-year Agreement to cooperate in biodiversity monitoring activities within the Park’s territory, with particular reference to mycological diversity and avifauna.
Activities focusing on the mycological component are carried out within the framework of the Network for the Study of Mycological Diversity (Ndm).

Planned activities include:

  • mycological surveys conducted within the Park by authorized local mycologists;
  • collection of ecological information according to standardized Ndm protocols;
  • management, verification, and validation of data by ISPRA through the Fungal Information System (SIF);
  • conservation of specimens in the ISPRA fungarium for documentation, research, and protection of fungal biodiversity;
  • synthesis and analysis of results at the local level, in collaboration with the Park Authority.

This collaboration will make it possible to expand and harmonize knowledge of mycological diversity in the Nebrodi area, contributing to habitat conservation and to the scientific and naturalistic enhancement of the territory.
