Global Strategy for Fungal Conservation: a global strategy for fungal conservation

This year, the Global Strategy for Fungal Conservation will be presented at the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17) in Yerevan, Armenia.

The Strategy represents the first global framework dedicated to fungal biodiversity conservation and sets out research priorities and voluntary actions linked to twelve targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).

Its aim is to promote greater integration of fungi into biodiversity conservation policies and practices, recognising their fundamental role in ecosystem functioning, ecological restoration and climate resilience.

The Network for the Study of Mycological Diversity (NMD) supports the objectives of the Strategy, recognising the importance of strengthening knowledge, monitoring and conservation of fungal biodiversity.
