From 14 to 17 April 2026, JoNeF participated in Uppsala (Sweden) in the international congress Fungal Conservation in Europe: Evidence to Action, hosted by SLU Artdatabanken, the Swedish Species Information Centre of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).

The event brought together researchers, institutions, conservation professionals and European stakeholders engaged in fungal biodiversity protection, with the aim of strengthening the transition from scientific knowledge to concrete conservation action.

JoNeF’s participation represented an important opportunity to exchange views on how fungi can be integrated into environmental monitoring systems, red-listing processes and biodiversity policies.

During the mission, a site visit to several natural sites in the Uppsala area also took place, focused on habitats, fungal biodiversity and good conservation practices.

On 14 April, a JoNeF back-to-back meeting was also held to coordinate the 2026 project activities.

Participation in Uppsala confirms JoNeF’s role as an innovative European initiative promoting the integration of fungi into environmental policies and biodiversity knowledge systems.
