The 5th "Nature in Contact" Festival opens
From 1 July to 2 August 2026, the Antica Rocca del Porto Storico in Civitavecchia will host the fifth edition of the Nature in Contact Festival, featuring a month of exhibitions, conferences, workshops and excursions dedicated tobiodiversity and science communication. NDM is among the supporting partners of the initiative.

JoNeF 2025 Report Approved
The IMPEL General Assembly has approved the JoNeF 2025 Report on fungal information systems across Europe. Based on a survey conducted in numerous countries, the report provides an updated overview of fungal databases and information systems, highlighting their strengths, challenges and growing importance for biodiversity monitoring, conservation and environmental policy.

JoNeF publishes its first scientific paper on macrofungi conservation in Europe
The JoNeF (Joint Network for wild Fungi) project has reached an important milestone with the publication of its first Open Access scientific paper in Conservation Science and Practice. The article presents the network’s recommendations for strengthening macrofungi conservation and promoting the integration of fungi into European biodiversity policies.

The mycological biodiversity of the Nebrodi Park: collaboration, monitoring and shared knowledge
On 5 June 2026, the conference “The mycological biodiversity of the Nebrodi Park” took place at Palazzo Trabia in Santo Stefano di Camastra. The event focused on the role of fungi in forest ecosystems and on collaborative approaches involving institutions, mycologists and local stakeholders for the monitoring of fungal biodiversity.

JoNeF for the congress "Fungal Conservation in Europe: Evidence to Action"
From 14 to 17 April 2026, JoNeF participated in Uppsala (Sweden) in the international congress, dedicated to the role of fungi in European biodiversity conservation strategies. During the mission, a site visit to several natural areas and an operational project meeting also took place.
