ISPRA and IZSVe sign Convention on research applied to Italian mycological diversity
On 30 October 2024, the Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) signed an agreement with the Institute for Experimental Zooprophylaxis in the Venetian Region (IZSVe), establishing a strategic collaboration within the framework of the Network for the study of mycological diversity (NMD). This initiative aims to enhance knowledge and data sharing on macromycetes present in the Italian territory, strengthening genetic reference databases.
The project aims to improve species identification, including both common and rare, threatened and alien species, and to resolve systematic and ecological ambiguities. The ultimate objective is to expand information on mycological biodiversity in Italy and enrich the ISPRA Fungarium in Ozzano dell’Emilia (BO), together with the new fungarium under development at IZSVe and San Donà di Piave (VE) and Legnaro (PD), with new biomolecular data.
